Overview

Paynes Bay is a bay situated on the west coast of Barbados, along the stretch known as the Platinum Coast. Lined with luxury resorts at its northern end, it offers a sheltered shoreline suitable for swimming, beach walks, and relaxing by the sea.

Getting There

The bay lies about 7 to 8 kilometres north of central Bridgetown. Reaching it by car, taxi, or local bus takes approximately 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic along the coastal road.

Time to Spend

Allow around 2 to 3 hours for a visit, which provides enough time for swimming and walking the length of the beach without rushing.

When to Go

Early morning and late afternoon are the most comfortable times to visit for cooler temperatures and fewer people. The beach gets noticeably crowded around midday when resort guests and tour boats arrive. For the driest weather, visit during the dry season from December through April.
