Lake Cișmigiu

Located within the Cișmigiu Gardens in central Bucharest, this man-made lake serves as a recreational space for walking and boating. During the winter months, the water is drained to transform the area into an outdoor skating rink.

The lake is situated in the city center. Depending on your starting point within the central district, it is accessible via a short walk or a brief taxi or ride-share trip, typically taking between 5 to 15 minutes.

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk around the perimeter of the water or to rent a boat for a short excursion.

When to Visit

The experience differs by season: visit in spring or summer for boating and greenery, or in winter for ice skating. The area becomes crowded on weekends and during public holidays. Early morning visits are generally quieter.
