Transit Modes

Busan Metro: The four-line subway is the fastest way across town. Line 1 connects Busan Station, Nampo, and Beomeosa, while Line 2 links Seomyeon to Haeundae Beach. Trains avoid coastal road congestion.

City Buses: Essential for spots beyond rail corridors, including Taejongdae, hillside villages, and direct routes between bays. Tap your card when boarding and exiting for transfer discounts.

Taxis: Readily available and practical for short hops over hilly ridges or late at night.

Cards and Passes

A rechargeable card (such as T-money or Cashbee) is best, covering the metro, buses, and airport rail with transfer discounts. A metro day pass gives unlimited subway rides for one calendar day. It excludes buses and the light rail, making it poor value if you explore on foot or mix modes.

Gimhae Airport Transit

  • Light Rail to Metro: Lowest cost band. Reliable travel times. Requires transferring at Sasang (Line 2) or Daejeo (Line 3), with moderate walking with luggage.
  • Airport Limousine Bus: Moderate cost band. Direct service to Seomyeon, Busan Station, and Haeundae with luggage bays, though subject to traffic.
  • Taxi: Highest cost band. Direct door-to-door convenience with zero transfers, ideal for late arrivals, heavy bags, or groups.

Practical Notes

  • Rush Hours: Lines 1 and 2 get crowded from 07:30 to 09:00 and 17:30 to 19:30, especially at Seomyeon.
  • Last Services: Rail transit shuts down around midnight. Limited night buses run after hours.
  • Luggage & Accessibility: Metro stations have elevators and wide gates, though older Line 1 stops require detours to find lifts. City buses cannot handle bulky luggage.
