Overview

The National Dinosaur Museum houses Australia's largest permanent collection of dinosaur fossils. Operating since 1993, it exhibits prehistoric life through fossil specimens, skeletal reconstructions, and life-size models in indoor galleries and an outdoor garden.

Getting There

The venue is located in Gold Creek Village, about 15 kilometres north of central Canberra. Driving from the city centre takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes. Public buses also connect central Canberra to the area in 35 to 50 minutes.

Suggested Duration

Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to view the indoor fossil displays and walk through the outdoor grounds.

When to Visit

The venue becomes crowded during school holidays and on weekend afternoons. Arriving on weekday mornings offers fewer visitors. Check the weather before visiting, as part of the display is outdoors.
