Habous

Established in 1916 during the French protectorate, this quarter is a planned traditional district designed to resemble a Moroccan medina. It features narrow alleys lined with traditional architecture, bookshops, and craft stores. Travelers visit this area to experience a quieter version of a Moroccan market and to observe local religious and cultural life.

Getting There

The district is located outside the immediate city center of Casablanca. It is accessible via taxi or local transport. Depending on your starting point in the center, the journey typically takes 15 to 20 minutes.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours to walk through the alleys, browse the shops, and visit the local bookstores.

When to Visit

Visiting during the morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. The area can become crowded during weekends and religious holidays. The weather is generally mildest during the spring and autumn months.

Because of its location, this area can be combined with other nearby sites:

  • Mohammadi Mosque: 0.1km
  • Isesco Park: 0.7km
  • Derb Sultan: 1km
