Essential Modes of Transport

Casablanca is a sprawling metropolis where transport choice depends on your destination and tolerance for negotiation.

• Tramway: The most efficient option for crossing the city center and reaching the Hassan II Mosque area. It wins on predictability, cleanliness, and avoiding traffic.
• Petit Taxi: Small red cars used for short urban trips. They are ideal for door-to-door service in areas not covered by the tram.
• Grand Taxi: Larger vehicles that operate on fixed routes or for long-distance trips. These are best for reaching the outskirts or neighboring towns.

Tickets and Passes

The tramway operates on a ticket system. Single-trip tickets are available at stations, while rechargeable cards are more convenient for those staying several days. These cards do not suit short-term visitors who only plan to use the tram once or twice, as the initial card cost outweighs the per-trip saving.
