Qutb Complex

Located in Mehrauli, this site consists of a group of ruins from the Delhi Sultanate era. The complex is dominated by the Qutb Minar, a towering sandstone minaret. Because the structures were completed under successive sultans, the site displays a variety of architectural styles from different historical periods. Visitors go here to study early Indo-Islamic architecture and the transition of building techniques over several centuries.

Getting There

The complex is situated in South Delhi. From the city centre, the most common way to reach the site is via taxi or ride-sharing apps. Depending on the traffic conditions in Delhi, the journey typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours to walk through the grounds, examine the inscriptions on the minaret, and view the surrounding ruins.

When to Visit

The site is an open-air complex, so it is best visited during the cooler months from October to March to avoid extreme heat. Early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the strongest sun. The area gets crowded, particularly during weekends and public holidays.
