What It Is

Raisina Hill is the administrative center of the Indian government in New Delhi. It accommodates key state buildings, including Rashtrapati Bhavan (the presidential residence) and the Central Secretariat's North and South Blocks. Travelers visit to observe the grand colonial-era architecture, wide ceremonial avenues, and symmetrical urban layout designed in the early twentieth century.

Getting There

From central Delhi hubs like Connaught Place, the area is reachable in roughly 10 to 15 minutes by auto-rickshaw, taxi, or metro. The closest Delhi Metro stops are Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan, which are a short walk or quick auto ride from the main view points.

Time to Spend

Allow 45 to 90 minutes to walk along the public sections of the avenue, view the building facades from designated perimeter areas, and take photos.

When to Visit

The cooler winter months between October and March provide the most manageable weather for walking outside. During hotter months, early mornings or late afternoons are recommended to avoid midday heat. Evenings draw local crowds when the government facades are illuminated. Security restrictions, traffic diversions, or temporary road closures can occur during national events and government ceremonies.
