St. James' Church, Delhi

Built in 1836, this historic church is one of the oldest in Delhi. It previously served as the official church for the Viceroy of British India. Visitors go here to see colonial-era architecture and to experience a quiet space within the busy environment of Old Delhi.

Getting There

The church is located in the Old Delhi area. From the city centre, you can reach it via the Delhi Metro or by auto-rickshaw. Depending on the traffic conditions, the journey typically takes 30 to 60 minutes.

Allow approximately 45 to 90 minutes to walk through the grounds and view the interior of the building.

When to Visit

The best time to visit is during the cooler months from October to March to avoid the extreme heat. Early morning visits are recommended to avoid the peak midday crowds. Be aware that the surrounding area can become very congested during local festivals or weekends.
