Overview

Built around 1517 by Ibrahim Lodi in honor of his father, this octagonal mausoleum is a key example of late Lodi-dynasty architecture. Located in Delhi's Lodhi Gardens, it draws travelers interested in pre-Mughal history and Islamic stonework.

Getting There

From central Delhi around Connaught Place, the journey takes 15 to 30 minutes by auto-rickshaw, taxi, or metro. The nearest metro stations are Jor Bagh and Khan Market, both located within walking or short auto distance.

Time to Allow

Allow 30 to 45 minutes to view the monument and its enclosed courtyard. Allow 1 to 2 hours if touring the surrounding park.

When to Go

Visit between October and March to avoid extreme summer heat. Early mornings and late afternoons offer the best conditions. The surrounding park gets crowded with local walkers on weekend mornings and evenings; weekday mid-mornings are much quieter.
