About Saat Masjid

Saat Masjid is a 17th-century Sunni mosque and mausoleum complex located in the Mohammadpur area of Dhaka. It serves as an example of provincial Mughal architecture, characterized by a roof crowned with seven rounded domes. Travellers visit to view its preserved masonry, exterior detailing, and historical structural layout.

Getting There

The complex is situated in western Dhaka. From the city centre, the site can be reached by taxi, auto-rickshaw, or ride-hailing services. Depending on traffic flow across the city, the journey typically takes between 45 and 90 minutes.

Time to Allow

Plan to spend approximately 30 to 45 minutes on site. This provides sufficient time to view the exterior architecture, observe the domes, and walk around the adjacent mausoleum grounds.

When to Visit

The cooler, dry months between November and February provide the most comfortable weather for walking around Dhaka. Morning or late afternoon visits avoid the strongest heat of the day. Because the site functions as an active place of prayer, expect higher attendance during daily prayer times, particularly around Friday midday prayers.

Nearby Attractions

The location can be combined with other points of interest in the area:

  • Bangabandhu Memorial Museum (1.9 km)
  • Liberation War Museum (2.3 km)
  • Dhanmondi Lake (2.3 km)
  • Turag River (2.8 km)
