Roman Amphitheatre of Durrës

This site is a Roman-era amphitheatre built during the reign of Emperor Trajan. Located in the center of Durrës, it is the largest amphitheatre in the Balkans. Visitors go here to see the structural remains of ancient Roman architecture and the layout of the arena.

Getting There

The amphitheatre is situated in the heart of downtown Durrës. If you are staying in the city center, it is accessible on foot within a few minutes. For those arriving from Mother Teresa Tirana International Airport (TIA), you will need to take a bus or taxi to the city center first.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 45 to 90 minutes to walk through the ruins and observe the architectural details of the site.

When to Visit

Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday sun, as the site is open to the elements. During the peak summer tourist season, the area can become crowded.
