Craigmillar Castle
What It Is
Craigmillar Castle is a medieval ruin situated on a hill about 5km southeast of central Edinburgh. Dating from the late 14th century with later additions, the site contains a tower house, courtyards, and stone corridors. Travellers visit to explore the unrestored architecture, climb to the roof for city views, and examine medieval defensive features.
Getting There
From central Edinburgh, local buses reach the area in about 25 to 35 minutes, followed by a short walk. A taxi from the centre takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes.
