Mosara Garden

Located north of Fes el-Jdid, this site is a former royal garden established in 1286 by a Marinid sultan. Visitors go here to see the remnants of a historic landscape and the traces of a large waterwheel near Bab Segma, which was once used to irrigate the grounds.

Getting There

The garden is situated on the outskirts of the city center. Most travelers reach the site via a short taxi ride or a walk from the Fes el-Jdid district. Depending on average, the journey from the central areas takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes by vehicle.

Visit Duration

Because the site consists primarily of ruins and open garden spaces rather than a dense museum or complex, allow roughly 45 to 90 minutes to explore the grounds and the remaining architectural traces.

When to Visit

The best time to visit is during the spring or autumn to avoid the extreme heat of the Moroccan summer. Early morning or late afternoon is recommended for better lighting and cooler temperatures. The site generally does not experience the same level of crowding as the central medina.
