The Marinid Walls are the remains of the medieval fortifications of Algeciras, designated as a historic monument in 1985. Visitors go here to walk along the ramparts and view the surviving sections of the city's ancient defensive perimeter.

Getting There

The walls are located within the urban area of Algeciras. From the city centre, they are accessible via a short walk of approximately 5 to 10 minutes, depending on your starting point.

Allow roughly 45 to 90 minutes to walk the accessible sections of the ramparts and observe the architectural details of the fortifications.

When to Visit

The site is an outdoor attraction, so visiting during the spring or autumn avoids the peak summer heat. Early morning or late afternoon is recommended for a more temperate experience. The site generally does not experience the heavy crowds found at major international landmarks.
