Isla Verde Lighthouse

Located at the southern end of the old fort in the port of Algeciras, this lighthouse was built in 1864. While it is no longer an active navigational aid, it remains a historic landmark for visitors interested in maritime architecture and the coastal history of the region.

Getting There

The lighthouse is situated near the port area. From the city centre, it is accessible via a short taxi ride or a walk of approximately 15 to 20 minutes, depending on your starting point.

Since the site is a historic structure rather than a large complex, allow 30 to 60 minutes to view the exterior and the surrounding port area.

When to Visit

Visiting during the late afternoon provides softer light for viewing the structure and the harbor. The coastal location can be windy during winter months. Because it is not a primary tourist hub, it generally does not experience the same crowding as major city landmarks.
