Located in the old Fustat area, this site is recognized as the first mosque built in Egypt and Africa, dating back to approximately 642. Visitors go here to see the architectural evolution of one of the earliest Islamic structures in the region and to experience a site that functioned as a center for Islamic scholarship for several centuries.
