Volksgarten
Volksgarten
Volksgarten is a 4.6-hectare public park located on the south side of the Mur river in Graz. Established in 1875, it serves as a green space for walking and relaxation, designed as a counterpart to the city's Stadtpark. Travelers visit this location for a quiet stroll through landscaped greenery within the urban environment.
Getting There
The park is located a short distance from the city center, across the Mur river. Depending on your starting point in the center, it is a 10 to 15-minute walk. Local public transport options are also available to reach the area quickly.
Suggested Duration
Allow approximately 45 to 90 minutes to walk the paths and explore the grounds at a leisurely pace.
When to Visit
The park is best visited during the spring and summer months when the vegetation is in full bloom. Morning or late afternoon visits are recommended to avoid the midday heat. Like most central public parks, it can become more crowded on sunny weekends and public holidays.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its central location, the park can be combined with several other sites within walking distance:
- Mariahilferkirche (0.5km)
- Murinsel (0.6km)
- Kunsthaus Graz (0.6km)
- Universalmuseum Joanneum: Neue Galerie (0.7km)
