Kaminaljuyu is an ancient Maya archaeological site located within the urban area of Guatemala City. Inhabited since approximately 1500 BC, the site consists of earthen mounds and structures. Travelers visit this location to gain a historical perspective on Maya civilization without leaving the capital city.

The site is accessible from the city centre via taxi or ride-sharing services. Depending on traffic conditions, the journey typically takes between 15 and 30 minutes.

It is advisable to visit during the morning hours to avoid the midday heat. The site does not typically experience the extreme crowding found at larger Maya ruins in the highlands or jungles.
