What It Is

Tel Afek is an archaeological site situated within the Ein Afek Nature Reserve, located east of Kiryat Bialik near Haifa. It features the remains of past settlements set among natural freshwater springs and protected coastal marshes. Getting There

From Haifa city centre, driving northeast via Route 4 or Route 22 takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Travelers using public transit can take a train or bus to Kiryat Motzkin or Kiryat Bialik, followed by a short local bus or taxi ride east to the reserve entrance.

Time to Allow

Plan to spend 1.5 to 2.5 hours on site. This provides enough time to walk along the marshland paths, view the landscape from the mound, and explore the historic structures.

When to Go

Spring and autumn offer the most moderate weather for outdoor exploration. Visiting during the early morning helps avoid the midday heat. The area can get crowded on weekends and public holidays, so a weekday morning visit is best for a quieter environment.
