Ba Đình Square is a large public space in Hanoi that serves as a central site for Vietnam's national history. It is the location where Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the country's independence in 1945. Visitors go here to see the surrounding political monuments and the mausoleum housing the remains of the former leader.
Getting There
The square is located near the center of Hanoi. From the Old Quarter, you can reach it via taxi or ride-sharing app in approximately 10 to 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
Duration of Visit
Allow roughly 1 to 2 hours to walk through the square and view the immediate surroundings. If you plan to enter the adjacent monuments, you will need additional time.
When to Visit
Early morning is often preferred to avoid the midday heat. The area can become very crowded during national holidays and weekends. Like much of Hanoi, the weather is most temperate during the autumn and winter months.
