Quán Sứ Temple

This Buddhist temple in Hanoi serves as the headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Originally constructed in the 15th century as a guesthouse for foreign envoys from foreign countries, it was later converted into a pagoda. Visitors go here to observe the resident monks, explore the religious architecture, and experience a center of Vietnamese Buddhist administration.

Getting There

The temple is located within the central district of Hanoi. From the city center, it is accessible via short taxi or ride-share trips, typically taking 5 to 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 45 to 90 minutes to walk through the grounds and view the main halls.

When to Visit

Visiting during early morning hours allows for a quieter experience. The site can become crowded during major Buddhist holidays and lunar New Year celebrations. It is advisable to dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees, as this is an active place of worship.
