Balancing Rocks

Located near Epworth, southeast of Harare, this site features a volcanic rock formation consisting of large volcanic boulders balanced precariously on top of one another. Visitors go here to see these geological structures, which serve as one of Zimbabwe's recognized natural landmarks alongside Matobo National Park.

Getting There

The site is located outside the main city center of Harare. The most practical way to reach the rocks is by hiring a car or using a registered taxi service. The drive from the city center typically takes between 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

Visit Duration

Most visitors spend between 1 and 2 hours at the site. This allows enough time to walk around the formation and observe the boulders from different angles.

Timing Your Visit

The site is outdoors and exposed to the sun, so visiting during the early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid midday heat. The dry season is generally preferred for easier access. While it is a popular spot, it does not typically experience extreme overcrowding, though it is busier on weekends.
