Cathedral of St Mary and All Saints

Located in downtown Harare, this Anglican cathedral serves as a place of worship and a site of architectural interest. Construction began in 1913, and the building was designed by architect Herbert Baker. Because Baker also designed the cathedrals in Johannesburg and Cape Town, the site is of particular interest to those studying colonial-era architecture in Southern Africa.

Getting There

The cathedral is situated within the city centre. Most visitors can reach it on foot from central hotels or business districts. Depending on your starting point in the downtown area, the walk typically takes between 5 and 15 minutes.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes to walk through the interior and observe the architectural details of the building.

When to Visit

Visitors should be mindful of scheduled religious services, as sightseeing may be restricted during these times. The site generally remains quiet, though it may become more crowded during major religious holidays or special services.
