Independence Palace
The Independence Palace is a historic landmark in central Ho Chi Minh City. Originally constructed by the French, the building later served as the residence of the President of South Vietnam and as a US military operations headquarters during the Vietnam War. Visitors go here to explore the preserved mid-century architecture, the underground bunkers, and the rooms used for government operations during the conflict.
Getting There
The palace is located in District 1, the heart of the city. It is a short trip from most central hotels via taxi or ride-sharing app. If you are visiting from Ben Thanh Market, it is approximately a 10-minute walk.
Visit Duration
Allow roughly 2 to 3 hours to walk through the main reception halls, the private quarters, and the basement command center.
When to Visit
