Paris Commune Square
What It Is
Paris Commune Square is a small public plaza and roundabout surrounding Notre Dame Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City, marking the start of Dong Khoi Street. Travellers stop here primarily as an open-air vantage point to view both the cathedral and the Central Post Office.
Getting There
The plaza is located directly in District 1. From the surrounding city centre, it takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to reach on foot. Taxis and local ride-hailing services can drop passengers off near the perimeter.
Time to Allow
Plan to spend roughly 15 to 30 minutes. Because the space is small, it functions mainly as a quick stop for viewing architecture and orienting yourself before heading to nearby sites.
When to Visit
Early mornings and late afternoons are preferable to avoid the midday sun and heat. As a functioning traffic roundabout and a common meeting point, the area regularly gets crowded with pedestrians and motorbikes during peak daytime hours.
Nearby Attractions
You can easily combine a visit with several sights in the immediate area:
- Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica (0.1km)
- Museum of Ho Chi Minh City (0.4km)
- Saigon Opera House (0.5km)
- Lam Sơn Square (0.5km)
