Capitolias

Capitolias consists of the archaeological remains of an ancient city located near the village of Beit Ras, east of the Jordan River. Visitors go here to see the structural traces of a past civilization, including the foundations of ancient buildings and civic layouts.

Getting There

The site is located outside the center of Irbid. The most direct way to reach the ruins is by taxi or rental car. The drive from the city center typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the site and observe the remaining ruins.

When to Visit

The site is an open-air archaeological area with little shade. Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. The spring and autumn seasons offer the most moderate temperatures for walking. The location does not typically experience heavy crowds.
