Çamlıca Mosque
Located on Çamlıca Hill in the Üsküdar district, this is one of the largest mosques in Turkey. Completed in 2019, the complex serves as a place of worship and includes an art galleries and a library. Visitors go here to see the contemporary Islamic architecture and to view the city from its elevated position on the Asian side of Istanbul.
Getting There
From the city centre (Sultanahmet or Taksim), you can reach the mosque via a combination of public transport and taxi or bus. You will need to cross from the European side to the Asian side, typically via the Marmaray train or a ferry to Üsküdar, followed by a bus or taxi up the hill. Depending on traffic and the mode of transport, the journey usually takes 45 to 90 minutes.
Visit Duration
Allow approximately 2 to 3 hours to explore the main prayer hall, the surrounding courtyards, and the internal cultural facilities like the library and gallery.
Timing Your Visit
The site can get crowded during prayer times and on weekends. Visiting during weekday mornings or late afternoons is generally quieter. Because of its location on a hill, it is exposed to wind and weather, making spring and autumn the most comfortable seasons for a visit.
