Highway Museum Complex
Located in Kiribathkumbura near Kandy, this is Sri Lanka's first museum dedicated to the history of roads and transportation. Visitors go here to see exhibits detailing the evolution of the country's infrastructure and the development of its transport systems.
Getting There
The museum is situated outside the main Kandy city centre. The most practical way to reach the site is by hiring a tuk-tuk or using a ride-sharing app. Depending on traffic conditions in the city, the journey typically takes 20 to 40 minutes.
Visit Duration
Most visitors spend between 1 and 2 hours exploring the exhibits and the complex grounds.
When to Visit
Visiting during the morning hours is generally advisable to avoid the midday heat. There are no specific seasonal closures, but it is recommended to check local weather forecasts as Kandy can experience heavy rain during the monsoon seasons.
