Located southwest of the Kathmandu Valley, this hill rises to an elevation of 2,551 meters. Travelers visit the site primarily to reach the Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple at the summit and to view the Himalayan range, which is visible on clear days.
Getting There
The hill is accessible from Kathmandu city center via road. Once at the base station, a cable car transports visitors to the summit. Depending on traffic conditions in the valley, the drive from the center typically takes between 45 to 90 minutes.
Duration of Visit
Allow approximately 3 to 5 hours for the visit. This includes the time for the cable car ascent and descent, as well as time to walk around the summit area and visit the temple.
When to Visit
The best time to visit is during the autumn and winter months when the air is clearer, increasing the likelihood of seeing the mountains. Early morning is recommended to avoid midday haze. The site can get crowded during weekends and public holidays.
