Kaunas Mosque
Overview
The Kaunas Mosque is one of the few Islamic places of worship in Lithuania and is the only brick-built mosque in the Baltic region. Travelers visit primarily to view its distinctive architecture, featuring a central dome and minaret set within public parkland.
Getting There
The site is situated at the edge of Ramybė Park, just southeast of the central pedestrian district. Walking from the eastern end of Laisvės Alėja takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes. It can also be reached on foot from the main bus and train stations in about 10 minutes.
Planning Your Visit
Allow 15 to 30 minutes to inspect the exterior architecture and walk around the grounds.
Daylight hours provide the clearest view of the brickwork and structure. The site does not experience heavy tourist crowds, though visitors should expect local worshipers during prayer times, particularly on Friday afternoons. Modest clothing and quiet conduct are recommended around the perimeter.
