About the Site

The Armenian Church of the Holy Nazareth is an Armenian Apostolic church first built in 1688 and rebuilt in 1724 on an old cemetery site. It served as the center of the Armenian diocese for India and the Far East. Visitors come to view early colonial-era architecture, historic Armenian gravestones, and evidence of the city's historic Armenian community.

Located in the Burrabazar area near central Kolkata, the church is accessible by taxi, rideshare, or walking from B. B. D. Bagh. The trip from the city centre takes roughly 10 to 20 minutes depending on local traffic.
