Overview

Iazoni Cave Natural Monument is a karst cave along the Tskaltsitela River near Kutaisi. Travellers visit to see a cave in its natural state and to walk along the river gorge without commercial infrastructure.

Getting There

The site sits just outside central Kutaisi. A taxi or drive from the city centre takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Those flying into Kopitnari Airport (KUT) should head into Kutaisi before continuing to the cave.

Time to Spend

Allow 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to explore the cave interior and walk along the riverbank.

When to Visit

Visit during daylight hours, as the cave is unlit and requires a personal light source. Spring through autumn offers the best trail conditions. Avoid wet periods when paths become muddy and river levels rise. It rarely gets crowded.
