Green Island (Kuwait)
Green Island
Green Island is an artificial island located just off the waterfront promenade of Kuwait City. It functions as a public park and seaside retreat, providing open green spaces and walking paths away from the urban traffic of the mainland.
Getting There
The island is easily accessible from the city centre via a short drive or taxi ride to the waterfront. From downtown, the trip typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Duration of Visit
Visitors generally spend between 2 and 4 hours here, depending on whether they intend to walk the perimeter of the island or use the space for a picnic.
When to Visit
Due to avoid extreme heat, visits are best planned for the cooler winter months. Late afternoon and evening are the preferred times of day to avoid direct sun. The island can become crowded during weekends and public holidays when local families gather.
Nearby Attractions
Because of its central location, the island can be combined with other city landmarks. Nearby sites include:
- Islamic Antiquities Museum of Kuwait (3.5km)
- Shaheed Park (3.6km)
- Kuwait Towers (3.9km)
- Al Hamra Tower (3.9km)
