Lae is Papua New Guinea's second-largest city, located at the mouth of the Markham River on the Huon Gulf. It's an industrial city with the country's largest port, and also the starting point of the road leading into the highlands.

Roman Catholic Diocese of Lae
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Lae is located in Lae and belongs to the Archdiocese of Madang. It began as an apostolic prefecture in 1959 and was elevated to a full diocese in 1966.
