Autumn delivers clear skies, crisp mountain air, and comfortable daytime temperatures across Lalitpur. Visibility is at its peak after the monsoon rains, making this the best window for walking between the courtyards of Patan Durbar Square and the brass workshops of Mangal Bazaar. This is also festival season. Dashain and Tihar bring atmospheric celebrations, but also operational challenges: artisan workshops close, local public buses run on limited schedules, and accommodations fill quickly.

Shoulder Season: Spring (March to May)

Spring brings longer days and rising temperatures, making it pleasant for outdoor temple tours before midday heat sets in. In late spring, Lalitpur hosts the Rato Machhindranath Jatra, a major chariot procession that routes through Pulchowk and Jawalakhel, drawing significant crowds and prompting street closures. Pre-monsoon haze begins building by May, occasionally obscuring mountain vistas.

Low Season: Winter and Summer Monsoon
