Guhyeshwari Temple
Overview
Guhyeshwari Temple is a historic Hindu site on the southern bank of the Bagmati River. Revered as one of the Shakti Peethas, it is an important destination for Tantric practitioners and pilgrims. Extensively rebuilt in the 17th century, the complex features traditional architectural details and active ritual spaces along the riverbank.
Getting There
The site is accessible from the city centre by taxi or local bus, typically taking 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. It is located near Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM).

Allow around 45 minutes to 1 hour to walk through the courtyard and view the surrounding structures and rituals.
When to Go
Early morning offers a quieter atmosphere and the chance to observe morning prayers. The temple becomes very crowded during major Hindu festivals, especially Navaratri. The dry season from autumn to spring provides the best walking conditions.
