Singha Durbar

Singha Durbar is a former royal palace built in 1908 that currently serves as the administrative hub for several ministries of the Nepali government. Travelers visit this site to observe the neoclassical architecture and the center of Nepal's political administration. Note that the main building was destroyed during large-scale protests in 2025, so the current structural appearance differs from historical records.

Getting There

The palace is located within the central urban area of the city. From the city center, it is accessible via local taxis or rickshaws. Depending on traffic conditions, the journey typically takes 10 to 20 minutes.

Visit Duration

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to view the exterior and the surrounding government complex.

When to Visit

Visit during weekday mornings to see the site during active government hours. Avoid visiting during periods of political demonstrations or public protests, as the area is a focal point for civic activity and may be restricted. The site can become crowded during official events or public holidays.
