Cathedral of Lima

The Cathedral of Lima is the historic seat of the Archbishop of Lima. Construction began in 1535, and the building reached its current form by the late 18th century. Visitors go here to see the colonial architecture and the religious art housed within the structure, which is located in the center of the city.

Getting There

The cathedral is located directly within the historic city center. If you are staying in the central district, it is accessible by walking. From other parts of Lima, taxis or ride-sharing services are the standard transport method to reach the main square.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately one to two hours to explore the interior and the facade of the building.

When to Visit

The site is located in a high-traffic tourist area and often gets crowded, particularly during midday and weekends. Visiting early in the morning may avoid the largest crowds.
