What It Is

Limassol Castle is a historic fortification standing near the old harbor in Limassol's old town, Cyprus. The structure visible today was rebuilt around 1590 during Ottoman rule and functions as a museum displaying medieval artifacts and regional exhibits. Travelers visit to see the preserved stone defensive architecture, learn about Cyprus's medieval period, and take a stroll around the surrounding harborside area.

Getting There

Located directly in the historic center, the site is accessible on foot from downtown Limassol in roughly 5 to 10 minutes. For visitors arriving at Larnaca International Airport (LCA), the drive or airport bus journey to central Limassol takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

Time to Allow

Plan to spend roughly 45 to 90 minutes inside. This gives sufficient time to view the museum exhibits across the stone halls and walk the perimeter walls.

When to Visit

Morning or late afternoon visits are practical to avoid high midday temperatures, particularly during the summer. Midday can also bring tour groups, so visiting earlier in the day offers a quieter experience.
