1916 Memorial

The 1916 Memorial is a public monument dedicated to the victims of the Easter Rising. Located beside the Sarsfield Bridge in Limerick, the sculpture was designed by Albert Power and completed by his son, James Power, in 1954. Visitors go here to view the artwork and reflect on the historical events of the Irish struggle for independence.

As an outdoor monument, this site requires a short visit. Most travelers spend approximately 15 to 30 minutes viewing the sculpture and the surrounding river views.

When to Visit

The site is open to the public at all times. Visiting during daylight hours is recommended for better visibility of the sculpture's details. It does not typically experience heavy crowds, though the adjacent bridge can be busy with commuters during peak hours.
