New Brighton Lighthouse

Located on Perch Rock in New Brighton, this is a former lighthouse that no longer serves as an active navigational aid. Visitors go here to view the structure and the adjacent Fort Perch Rock, both of which serve as landmark symbols of the Wirral peninsula.

Getting There

To reach the lighthouse from Liverpool city centre, travellers typically take a Merseyrail train to New Brighton station, followed by a walk to the coast. The total journey time is approximately 40.5 to 1 hour depending on train schedules and walking pace.

Time Allotment

Allow roughly 1 to 2 hours to walk out to the rock, view the lighthouse and the fort, and return to the promenade.

When to Visit

The site is accessible depending on the tide; access to the lighthouse is restricted during high tide when the path is submerged. It is best visited during daylight hours. The area can become crowded during summer weekends and public holidays.
