Overview

Hesperange Castle consists of the ruins of a medieval fortress perched on a hill above the village of Hesperange in southern Luxembourg. Travellers visit to walk among the crumbling stone walls, explore remnants of old defensive structures, and take in elevated views overlooking the village and the Alzette valley.

Getting There

The site sits roughly 5 kilometers south of Luxembourg City centre. Public buses run regularly from the capital to Hesperange, taking around 15 to 20 minutes. From the village bus stops, reaching the hilltop requires a short walk up residential streets and footpaths.

Time to Allow

Plan to spend about 30 to 60 minutes to walk through the grounds, inspect the surviving masonry, and view the landscape.

When to Visit

Visit during clear daylight hours. The unpaved paths around the hill can become slippery in wet weather. The ruins are rarely crowded, offering a quiet experience at most times of year.
