The Valley of the Seven Castles is a section of the Eisch valley in central Luxembourg featuring a series of historic castles. Travelers visit this area to view the fortifications and explore the surrounding natural landscape. The site can be experienced either by driving from near Arlon to Steinfort or by following a 37km hiking trail that connects each castle.

Getting There and Duration

The valley is located outside the center of Luxembourg City. Access is typically by car or regional transport. Depending on the specific castle or trailhead chosen, the drive from the city center generally takes 20 to 30 minutes.

The time required depends on the chosen method of exploration. A driving tour of the stretch takes just over an hour. Those opting for the full hiking trail should allow several days or a full day of intensive trekking to cover the 37km distance.

The area is best visited during the spring and autumn for moderate hiking temperatures and changing foliage. Because it is a rural natural area, it does not experience the same density of crowds as the city center, though weekends are busier than weekdays.
