Overview

Lyon Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in Old Lyon and the seat of the Archdiocese of Lyon. Constructed between the 12th and 15th centuries, it blends Romanesque and Gothic architecture and houses a historic astronomical clock and stained glass windows.

Getting There

From Place Bellecour in the city centre, walking takes 10 to 15 minutes across Bonaparte Bridge. Alternatively, take Metro Line D to the Vieux Lyon – Cathédrale Saint-Jean station, located right outside.

Time to Allow

Allow 30 to 45 minutes to tour the interior and clock, or up to an hour to inspect the exterior carvings.

When to Visit

Weekday mornings are the quietest. The interior gets crowded during peak summer months and during weekend church services.
