Sint Servaasbrug

The Sint Servaasbrug is an arched stone bridge that crosses the Meuse river in Maastricht. It is recognized as the oldest bridge in the Netherlands. Travelers visit this landmark to cross between the city center and the Wyck district, using the pedestrian and cycling paths to view the river and the surrounding cityscape.

Getting There

The bridge is centrally located and easily accessible from the Maastricht city center. Depending on your starting point in the core, it is a short walk of approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

Time Requirement

Allow 20 to 30 minutes to walk across the bridge and observe the river views. If you are using it simply as a transit point to reach the other side of the river, the crossing takes only a few minutes.

When to Visit

The bridge is open to the public at all times. It can become crowded with pedestrians and cyclists during peak tourist seasons and weekend afternoons. Visiting during the early morning or evening provides a quieter experience.

Nearby Attractions

Because of its central location, the bridge can be combined with several other nearby sites:

  • Basilica of Our Lady (0.3km)
  • Onze Lieve Vrouweplein (0.3km)
  • Hoge Brug (0.4km)
  • Wyck (0.4km)
