Guia Fortress

The Guia Fortress is a 17th-century military fortification located on a hill in Macau. The site includes a chapel and a lighthouse, which is the oldest of its kind in East Asia. Visitors go here to see the historical military architecture and to view the city from an elevated vantage point. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage-designated Historic Centre of Macau.

Getting There

The fortress is located on the peninsula side of Macau. From the city centre, it is accessible via local buses or taxi. The trip typically takes 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic and your specific starting point.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours to walk through the fortifications, visit the chapel, and climb to the lighthouse.

When to Visit

Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon is recommended to avoid the midday heat. The site can get crowded during public holidays and weekends. The weather is generally mildest from October to December.
