Ibn Salah Mosque

Located within the old medina of Marrakech, this 14th-century mosque is the only remaining example of Marinid-era architecture in the city. Visitors go here to observe the specific design elements of the period, particularly the detailed decorations on the minaret.

Getting There

The mosque is situated in the heart of the medina. From the city centre, it is most easily reached on foot via the narrow streets of the old quarter. Depending on your starting point within the centre, the walk typically takes between 10 and 20 minutes.

Visit Duration

Because the site is a compact architectural example rather than a large complex, allow approximately 30 to 60 minutes to observe the exterior and the minaret.

When to Visit

To avoid the heaviest pedestrian traffic in the medina, visit during the early morning. As it is located in a busy commercial district, the surrounding streets can become crowded throughout the day. Be mindful that this is an active place of worship; avoid visiting during prayer times to respect local customs.

Nearby Attractions

The mosque is positioned close to several other cultural sites, making it easy to combine with the following:

  • House of Photography (0.3km)
  • Medina of Marrakesh (0.4km)
  • Marrakech Museum (0.4km)
  • Almoravid Koubba (0.5km)
