Majorelle Garden

This 10,000-square-meter botanical garden was created by French painter Jacques Majorelle starting in 1923. Visitors go here to see a diverse collection of plants and a Cubist-style villa built in the 1930s. The site is characterized by its specific shade of cobalt blue used on the architecture.

Getting There

The garden is located outside the historic center. From the city center, you can reach the site via taxi or local transport. The journey typically takes 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Duration of Visit

Allow approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to walk through the botanical collections and view the villa.

When to Visit

The garden gets crowded, particularly during peak tourist seasons and midday. Visiting early in the morning is recommended to avoid the largest crowds and the midday heat. Spring and autumn offer more moderate temperatures for walking.

Nearby Attractions

Because of its location, the garden can be combined with other nearby sites:

  • Yves Saint Laurent Museum: 0.1km
  • Bab Doukkala Grand Mosque: 1.3km
  • Church of the Saints Martyrs: 1.4km
  • Dar el Bacha: 1.5km
