Cuicuilco Archaeological Site

Located in the Tlalpan district of southern Mexico City, this site contains the remains of one of the oldest civilizations in the Valley of Mexico. Visitors go here to see the circular pyramid, a structural design that differs from the rectangular pyramids found in later Mesoamerican cultures, and to learn about the volcanic activity that led to the settlement's decline.

Getting There

The site is located in the southern part of the city. From the city centre, the most common way to reach it is via taxi or ride-sharing apps. Depending on traffic conditions, the journey typically takes between 45 and 90 minutes.

Duration of Visit

Most visitors spend approximately 1.5 to 3 hours exploring the grounds and the ruins.

When to Visit

It is advisable to visit during the morning hours to avoid the midday heat. The site is generally less crowded than the major central museums or Teotihuacán. During the rainy season, some outdoor paths may be damp.
